WoW Gold Guide
Welcome to my comprehensive WoW gold guide where I show you the primary ways to make a decent income in the World of Warcraft. I don’t consider myself an overly experienced or talented WoW PvP player but I pride myself on making a decent income in WoW.
Currency is as important in WoW as it is in real life as without it you cannot buy the things needed to survive just in wow food and water is replaced with skills, amour and weapons.
In this WoW gold guide I try to outline the primary methods for earning gold but there are many more then what is listed here. The thing about gold farming is that it can be boring and time consuming and it seems the more fun a gold making strategy is the less profitable it is.
To be clear from the start each WoW server is its own little world and as such the economy has grown and changed on all servers in a different way, for instance an item with X gold on one server could be worth next to nothing on another. There are of course ways of earning gold that don’t change such as grinding but it’s the variable methods that tend to earn the most gold.
Here is an overview of what is in this wow gold guide:
Page 1
- Grinding – Taking on large groups of mobs and looting items and Gold and then selling them
- Professions – Gathering materials and selling them in the AH
Page 2
- Flipping – Buying out and reselling AH items
- Alternative Gold making strategies
Grinding:
Grinding is more or less the caveman way of earning gold as in it is the original and simplest to understand way of earning gold. Grinding does not really vary from server to server unless you count getting killed in the middle of a run by the opposite faction.
The basics of grinding is find an area where monsters have good drops in gold and items, to do this lookup thottbott or WoWhead.com, and just kill everything in sight, preferably killing more than one at a time. If you can’t solo a couple mobs at once then I suggest you learn to or find another way to make gold.
Grinding has no real level requirement but is not recommended for lower levels because it has no real benefit gold or level wise. Most people just tend to grind as they quest as this way it takes some of the boredom off of it.
Once you get to level 20+ you can start the grinding process as it is an effective way to power level your character earns items and get a little bit of gold but it is boring as all hell.
I only recommend grinding to people who really have nothing better to do with their time and can stand long period’s repetitious behavior.
Flipping
Flipping can be done at any level and is usually operated by character called mules. A mule is a character that is just there to store items and work the AH and is usually level 1.
Flipping is the term you give when you acquire an item for a low to reasonable price and then trade that item for a much better price in the Auction house or via standard trade.
You can acquire items a number of ways:
- Grinding mobs in search of materials recipes or items
- Buying out cheap items in the AH and then selling them for a better price
Flipping is a good money making strategy to get into because you are on top of finding all the bargains in the AH and this sometimes leads to finding some high quality useable items for yourself. This means you have the pick of the crop for a reasonable price.
Flipping requires some amount of start up money, not much just around 10G, because you are required to buy and sell items. As you buy and sell items you will be able to slowly upgrade your little empire until you are making up to 50-100g profit per sale.
Flipping is also a very non-obtrusive way of making money as all it really requires is a quick visit to the AH every now and then to trade in some items.
